Introduction

The University of Granada is an innovative and comprehensive research University, founded in 1531, and built on a long-standing teaching tradition, the roots of which can be traced back to the madrasahs of the Nasrid dynasty of Granada. As a forward-looking historical University located at various sites throughout Granada, the UGR is deeply engaged with today’s city, province, and surrounding region, playing a leading role in the recovery and conservation of Granada’s magnificent historical and cultural heritage sites. They have a vibrant presence in the local economy, where they represent 6.12% of the provincial GDP.

With over 55,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students and 6,000 staff members, the UGR has a powerful presence in a city of 240,000 inhabitants. Its role as leader in incoming and outgoing student and staff mobility in European and international programmes, and its attractiveness for international students and researchers, create a multicultural campus life and a lively cosmopolitan setting. Over the course of the current academic year 2019-2020, 2,600 new international undergraduate students from over 70 countries will complete studies at the UGR, thanks to the diverse range of mobility programmes on offer at the institution.

The University of Granada (UGR) is the top-ranked university in southern Spain and 4th in the country (ARWU 2019). Renowned for research and education, it leads the BioTic excellence initiative in Biohealth, ICT, Earth Sciences, and Heritage, collaborating with over 50 partners, including the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

Its Health Sciences Technology Park (PTS) exemplifies innovation, integrating teaching, research, and healthcare. With campuses in Ceuta and Melilla, the UGR bridges Europe, North Africa, and Latin America, reinforcing its international reach through networks like the Coimbra Group and AUIP.

As coordinator of the Arqus European University Alliance, the UGR fosters European cooperation with six partner institutions. This international role, alongside its strong academic performance, cements the UGR’s position as a leader in higher education and research.

María del Mar Cepero González



Graduated from the INEF of León (now Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences) in 1992 and earned a PhD in Physical and Sport Education in 1997. She has held academic and research positions at four Spanish universities (León, Cádiz, Jaén, Granada) and internationally at institutions like John Moores University (UK), Indiana University (USA), and Universidade do Algarve (Portugal). A tenured university lecturer since 2004, she also has experience as a secondary school teacher, ranking first in her competitive examination.

Nationally accredited as a University Professor in 2013, she coordinates the Teaching Degree in Physical Education and the Didactics of Corporal Expression area at the University of Granada. She also leads the HUM-727 research group and the Physical and Sports Education research line in the university's Doctoral Programme in Education Sciences. Her research focuses on physical education methodology, sports analysis, psychosocial factors, and promoting physical activity and health.

Francisco Javier Rojas Ruiz


Professor at the University of Granada (2015) belonging to the Department of Physical and Sports Education. Professor of Biomechanics of Human Movement. Director of the Centre for Employment Promotion and Internships of the UGR 2008-2015. Extensive research development with 4 sexenios of research and 1 of knowledge transfer. Senior Basketball Coach, assistant coach and physical trainer of the club ``Baloncesto Granada´´ SAD ACB league from 1995 to 2003, and of the Spanish National Basketball Team U-20 2008, participating in the highest national basketball competition, also playing the European league and the European Championship U-20. He is currently director of Club Granada`` Más Baloncesto´´ and coach of a team with more than 300 boys and girls between 6 and 19 years of age.

Rosario Padial Ruiz



Lecturer in the Department of Didactics of Musical, Plastic and Corporal Expression in the Faculty of Education Sciences in Granada. She has been a tenured lecturer at the University School La Inmaculada, attached to the University of Granada, from 1996 to 20016, as well as associate lecturer at the Faculty of Education Sciences in Granada from 2008 to 2016. Education: PhD in Physical Education and Early Childhood Education Teacher. Master's degree in research and innovation in curriculum and training. Research: Director of the research group Diseño, desarrollo e innovación curricular en el área de la Didáctica de la Educación Física (HUM-727), at the University of Granada, from 2017 to 2021.

Antonio José Pérez Cortés



Vice-Dean for Students and Employability at the University of Granada, and Professor in the Department of Didactics of Musical, Plastic, and Corporal Expression. Coordinates the SICUE National Mobility Programme and teaches in the Physical Education specialty of the Master's in Secondary Education, as well as in the Physical Activity and Sport Sciences Degree. Actively organizes training activities and scientific events for students and professionals. A researcher in the HUM-1020 group (Andalusian Regional Government), their work focuses on Erasmus+ projects, R&D, teaching innovation, educational technology, and physical activity and health. They also supervise theses and research in teacher training and educational innovation.

Félix Zurita Ortega


Félix Zurita Ortega is a University Professor and Director of the Department of Didactics of Musical, Plastic, and Corporal Expression at the University of Granada. He holds PhDs in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (Granada) and Education (Jaén), with degrees in Physical Education, Sport Sciences, and Physiotherapy. He teaches Physical Education in the Primary Education Degree, Master's in Physical Anthropology, and Master's in Innovation, Curriculum, and Training at the University of Granada, as well as the Master's in Secondary Education at the University of Jaén.

Diego Collado Fernández



He holds a PhD from the University of Granada Doctoral Programme "Design and Foundations of the Curriculum and Teacher Training in the Areas of Primary and Secondary Education" Degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences. Diploma in Teaching (Human Sciences). Currently, he is a Professor in the Department of Didactics of Musical, Plastic and Corporal Expression, Faculty of Education Sciences. He has been a lecturer at the University School La Inmaculada, attached to the University of Granada from 1992 to 2021, as well as an associate lecturer at the Faculty of Education Sciences in Granada from 2008 to 2020. He has previously taught Physical Education at all stages of the Spanish Education System.

Alejandro Pérez Castilla



Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Education Sciences of the University of Almeria. Member of the Sport Research Group (CTS1024). The main lines of research focus on: a) Sports Training; b) Biomechanics of Human Movement; c) Motor Control. Author of more than 100 articles in international peer-reviewed journals indexed in Journal Citation Reports, as well as more than 40 papers presented at national and international conferences.

José Luis Ubago Jiménez



D. in Educational Sciences from the University of Granada (Spain) and lecturer in the Department of Didactics of Musical, Plastic and Corporal Expression at the University of Granada. He has had a FPU contract at the same university and has more than 50 publications in journals indexed in JCR, SCOPUS and ESCI. He has a 3-month stay at Politécnico de Guarda (Portugal) and 3 months at the University of Seville.

Jose Joaquín Muros Molina


José J. Muros is a lecturer at the University of Granada (Spain). He received his PhD in Nutrition, Physical Activity and Health in 2013 from the University of Granada. He worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Nottingham (United Kingdom) in the Division of Child Health, Obstetrics and Gynaecology. His current focus is on health, nutrition, physical activity, and quality of life in children. Dr. Muros’ scholarly interests include strategies to enhance physical activity and quality of life related with health and Mediterranean diet habits in school children.

Andrés B. Fernández-Revelles



Andrés B. Fernández-Revelles holds a PhD in physical activity and health from the University of Granada (2003) and has been a professor at this university since 1996. Professor of the Department of Physical and Sports Education, in the Faculty of Sports Sciences at the University of Granada. Olga Valenzuela Cansino


The main lines of research have focused on the development of systems based on fuzzy logic, new models of artificial neural networks, new methodologies in evolutionary systems, prediction of time series using both the classic Box-Jenkins methodology and hybrid systems, development of new clustering algorithms, bio-medical applications and bioinformatics applications. It should be noted that the research carried out by the candidate has had a special relevance and impact on the scientific community. In recent years her main focus of work has been the field of biomedicine and bioinformatics.

Fernando José Rojas Ruiz



PhD from the University of Granada and Computer Engineering, is a full professor in the Department of Computer Engineering, Automation and Robotics at the University of Granada. Ignacio Rojas Ruiz



His field of research focuses on the study of complex multidimensional systems using intelligent systems, supported by high-performance computing platforms, focused on solving real problems in various fields, such as bioinformatics, biomedicine, and time series prediction, among others as result of the research developed, it has published more than 270 contributions reflected in the ISI Web of Knowledge database, of which more than 153 are classified as articles, and more than 120 contributions are collected in journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports of the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI).
